Having your baby is probably the most important event in your life. Relaxing in a Waterbirth Pool during labour and childbirth can make this experience safe and wonderful!
It is now possible for every mother-to-be to use a waterbirth pool at home or hospital for NHS or private births and pools can be sent or collected from local points throughout the UK.
Splashdown Water Birth Services Ltd. was founded in January 1989 by Jayn Lee-Miller when she became one of the UK's first water birth mothers after the home birth of her first baby, Nathan, in water. Jayn was presented with an award for her work in 1992 after being nominated by childbirth experts and midwives. Jayn was the inspiration behind the International Conference on Water Birth in London in April 1995 and is one of the four founder members of the International Water Birth Committee along with Janet Balaskas, Beverley Lawrence Beech and Sheila Kitzinger. Jayn has been responsible for the training of several thousands of midwives in the safe use of waterbirth pools since 1989. Jayn has appeared several times on national television and radio. Jayn is also a qualified Crystal and Angelic Reiki Healing Practitioner.
Oscar nominated Actress, Jane Horrocks, gave birth to her daughter, Mollie, in our oval fully padded pool at London’s Portland Hospital. She was so delighted with the pool that she ‘phoned us to thank us for our service. You can read what she said here.
Olympic Swimmer, Sharron Davies, was ecstatic about using Splashdown’s oval fully padded pool for the birth of her daughter, Grace, who was born in water at home.
After choosing a water birth most women choose to use a pool again for subsequent labours and births. Ex-Iron Maiden Vocalist, Bruce Dickinson’s wife, Paddy has used Splashdown’s pools for all three of her baby’s births at home in water. One mother has given birth five times in one of our pools!
Splashdown Water Birth pools are featured regularly on various television programs including The Real Birth Show, "Men Behaving Badly", "Kilroy", "May to September", "Good Morning", "EastEnders", ITN News, Sky & Well-being channels, etc.
Splashdown has now helped thousands of women to enjoy the benefits of a water labour and/or birth with NHS or private midwifery. All who have used Splashdown pools have said their labour was eased.
